Jay grew up splitting time between Havre Montana and Sacramento California. He lived in Salt Lake City Utah where he earned a History degree from Westminster College that he just uses when he watches Jeopardy. While in Utah he earned a bachelor’s degree in special education from Utah State University. Jay taught special education in Taylorsville, Utah. His classroom was a self-contained autism unit where he taught grades 2nd through 6th. He returned to Montana in 2009 where he taught special education in Chinook Montana and one year on a Hutterite colony. Jay earned a degree in mental health counseling from MSU Northern. After completion of the degree he worked at a community mental health center where he worked as a youth/adult case manager, day treatment supervisor, in-home family therapist, and traditional outpatient therapist. Over the last four years Jay has worked as a behavioral health provider embedded with primary care teams at a tribal health center and two FQHCs. He is currently seeking his doctorate in healthcare administration online at Capella University. When he has free time, he likes spending time with his children and two dogs. He also enjoys playing live poker and writing articles for his blog.
