What to expect from a sports physical

A sports physical is an important part of keeping your kids healthy and safe while they enjoy extracurriculars. You and your health care provider are required to complete the current Montana High School Association Physical Exam Form, with you provider signing off that your child can safely participate in the activities.

Community Health Partners clinics offer routine physicals that get your child ready to head out on the field or the court. During a sports physical with CHP, the health care provider performing the physical will look at things like height, weight, vision, lungs, stomach, ears, nose, throat, bones, and joints. The provider might ask a few simple questions about diet, exercise, or menstrual periods if applicable.

Come prepared with your child’s basic medical history, like any allergies, past injuries, a record of surgeries or hospitalizations, any history of illness, or other relevant health information.

Required Vaccines Also Available at CHP

A lifetime of learning starts with a vaccine record. In Montana, students in kindergarten through 12th grade must be vaccinated to protect against Diphtheria, Tetanus, and Pertussis (DTaP, DT, Td, Tdap), Polio (IPV or OPV), Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR), and Varicella “chickenpox” (Var) in order to attend public school.

These vaccines help keep all students healthy and are an important protection against preventable, but sometimes deadly, diseases.

Germs spread fast in schools. When everyone who can be vaccinated gets the vaccine, it helps protect those who can’t, keeping preventable diseases from harming people, and letting everyone enjoy a lifetime of learning.

Sometimes kids (or even their parents) can feel nervous about getting vaccinations. But the process is quick and easy through Community Health Partners clinics. During the clinic visit, the actual shots take hardly any time at all. It’s usually over before they know it, and any discomfort from the vaccination injection typically doesn’t last past when the bandage goes on their arm.

Get your school-aged children ready for a healthy academic year with sports physicals and vaccines at Community Health Partners clinics. Services are available on a sliding payment scale, so anyone can access medical care, regardless of ability to pay. Prioritize their health, learning, and fun!
