As we head into August, families throughout Montana are beginning their back-to-school prep for the new school year. One thing that’s typically on the checklist is making sure your child’s preventative healthcare is up to date before school starts. While the cost may be a concern for some families, know that CHP is here to provide accessible, affordable, available healthcare to families in Southwest Montana. Here are some of the services that are available at CHP clinics to help your child start off the school year on the right foot.
Free Sports Physicals
If you have a child in school sports, you know this is the time of year to make sure they have a new sports physical before their season begins. Per the Montana High School Association, sports physicals are required of all students in grades 6-12 who participate in school sports each year. CHP offers a school-based clinic with these services in Belgrade Middle School’s Panther Clinic, or you can stop into any of our clinic locations for a free sports physical.
Required School Vaccines
For children entering school for the first time or reaching certain grade levels, the state of Montana has a list of required school vaccines. While students are required to have the vaccines on that list, there are additional vaccines available at CHP clinics to keep your child protected from illness while they’re in school as well.
Annual Well-Child Visit
Well-child visits are the time to annually check in on your child’s growth and development, as well as make sure they are healthy and happy. These visits typically begin just after birth and continue until the child turns 18. While pediatricians have to stop seeing children in their teens, at CHP we have family physicians who can continue to see your child as they get older. You can even have your child see the same physician as you do.
