Back-to-school time is exciting, both for parents and their children. You can track milestones while you watch them grow and learn. The changing season also comes with a checklist of health items to take care of before the first day of school. Several key services are an important part of the back-to-school season.

The Belgrade Middle School Panther Clinic can help make it easier to access all of the health services your child needs to start the school year off on a healthy foot. This clinic is the first partnership of its kind in Gallatin County, a collaboration between the Belgrade School District and Community Health Partners. The clinic is open to all students and families of students within the Belgrade School District. See how the clinic can serve your family.

Vaccines

With the new school year comes public school vaccine requirements, not to mention exposure to a whole range of new germs. Keep your kids safe by staying on top of mandatory vaccines. Their health and education depend on it.

For kids in grades kindergarten to 12, Belgrade School District requires four doses of the Diphtheria, Tetanus, and Pertussis vaccine; three doses of the polio vaccine; one dose of the measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine; and one dose of the chickenpox vaccine. The Panther Clinic can take care of these vaccinations to get your child ready for a new year of learning.

Sports physicals

The sports season is always an adventure, between travel for games, dramatic wins and losses, and team dynamics. It’s also the time to schedule a sports physical, so your child can play without missing a game.

A sports physical is simple, but it’s an important requirement of most leagues. The provider will take their height and weight, check vision and hearing, take a look at heart health, and measure muscle and bone health, blood pressure, strength, and flexibility. Comparing their chart this year to your child’s medical history can help ensure they’re in good health to excel at any sport they choose.

Well-child visits

You don’t need to feel sick to visit the doctor. And neither does your child. Well-child visits are an important part of preventative care. They include many of the same tests and monitoring as a sports physical. But they also tend to take into account your child’s development, as well as checking in on mental and emotional well-being and social, behavioral and environmental health.

A provider might ask questions about how they’re doing in school, how they’ve been sleeping, what their friends are like, and what their social media habits are. This is a way of checking in to make sure they’re on track. And if they need extra support, the provider can offer resources and help they need to thrive. A well-child visit is a more holistic approach to monitoring health than just a physical exam.

The good news is you can typically combine any or all of these services into a single visit at Belgrade’s Panther Clinic. Get in touch to make an appointment, and find affordable care in a convenient location.
